Third Quarter
Students have been working on the Exhibition Research Process this quarter. They have generated guided questions, found answers to them and pasted them into a research file. They have labeled each paragraph with a letter corresponding to the souce. They have read, highlighted and bulleted all the information and put the bullets into a PowerPoint outline. From this they wrote both sect ions of the paper.
We have also turned the information from the Appalachian Trail brochure into a website using Dreamweaver. These will be linked from the school's website to an Intranet, accessible from the school's computers.
Second Quarter
Second quarter students completed
several projects:
- Began mapping Stamford
- An AT brochure using their
original postcard and leaf drawings and the 5 paragraphs they wrote from
their research.
- An exploration of Exhibition
topics -- definitions of technology, list of 100 topics and summaries
of 3 possible topics.
First Quarter
For
the first quarter, students on both teams have completed one unit:
- Are You A Square? -- Everyone's height and
reach in cm were recorded in an Excel spreadsheet. Students had to use
built-in functions and their
own
formulae
to convert to inches, feet, yards and miles. Then students in groups of
two found one question about all the data that they could answer. They
completed a lab report with their conclusions, then created a PowerPoint
to present their findings to the entire group.
They began working on a second
unit:
- Each student chose a topic
relating to our trip to the Appalachian
Trail. They researched five questions,
highlighted and bulleted key words and then wrote gobr good paragraphs
to put into an original brochure. In Art class, they drew scenes from
the trip which will be incorporated into the brochure.
