For the second quarter, students
on both teams are completing several units:
- Each student chose a topic
relating to our trip to the Appalachian Trail. They researched four questions,
highlighted and bulleted key words and then wrote four good paragraphs
to put into an original brochure. In Art class, they drew scenes from
the trip which will be incorporated into the brochure.
For
the first quarter, students on both teams have completed two units:
- Are You A Square? -- Everyone's height and
reach in cm were recorded in an Excel spreadsheet. Students had to use
built-in functions and their
own
formulae
to convert to inches, feet, yards and miles. Then students in groups of
two found one question about all the data that they could answer. They
completed a lab report with their conclusions, then created a PowerPoint
to present their findings to the entire group.
- Doodletown -- Students researched basic questions
about Doodletown (as part of the Appalachian Trail experience) using
the Scofield Internet Research
Process. Then using their results they created a poster in Word encouraging
people to visit Doodletown.
